Malls warned to tighten disease controls after ratings drop

Malls and phone shops have been warned to tighten up disease control measures after their customer ratings on the ThaiChana platform dropped.

The warning came from the Digital Economy and Society Ministry today during its regular update on the QR code platform, which has also added more languages.

The digital platform has been used almost 31 million times (30,792,286) to check into shops and other businesses, while 230,768 shops have registered nationwide, the ministry’s inspector-general Polawat Witoolkollachit reported today.

Meanwhile, only 55.5 per cent who check-in via the website are remembering to check out, though that figure rises to 86.7 per cent for users of the ThaiChana app.

However, customer ratings for shopping malls and phone shops have begun to drop, said Polawat, who warned them to keep up with other operators. He also advised shop operators to take better care of books in which customers record their names and phone numbers, since there were reports that fraudsters were stealing the numbers to use in scams.

The ThaiChana platform is now available in Thai, English, Burmese and Malay, with more languages to be added in future, he said.
It also features a group check-in facility, for the convenience of families with children and elderly members.

Over the next week, ThaiChana will enable customers to make reservations via a QR code which can be shown on entry. Meanwhile, users will be able to check customer density at locations before they visit.

Polawat confirmed that the platform only records the name and phone number of users. Those who entered at-risk areas would be sent a direct and strictly private message advising them to get a test for Covid-19.
