Thailand readies field hospitals to tackle rising Covid cases

There are nearly 8,000 beds available across Thailand to accommodate Covid-19 patients as the number of infections continues spiking in the country.

The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) said on Wednesday that there are 7,669 beds available for new patients.

Total: 9,655

In use: 1,986

Available: 7,669

Meanwhile, four field hospitals – two in Chiang Mai and one each in Udon Thani and Trang – have been closed as the Covid-19 situation in these provinces has eased.

• Maejo University, Chiang Mai (closed on May 7)

• Chiang Mai University (closed on May 10)

• Udon Thani Rajabhat University (closed on May 16)

• Prince of Songkhla University, Trang (closed on May 18)
