The survey, conducted by Shan National Forum Implementation Committee, talked with more than 3,000 people in 40 townships across the state. The respondents were not related to any political party or government army, according to the SNLD.
Saying that they were happy at the survey findings, Sai Nyunt Lwin, secretary of SNLD, said, “Right now, it’s impossible for the parties [to work together]. But they collaborated at the grassroots level on some issues.”
The forum in Yangon was mainly sponsored by the SNLD, the Shan National Development Party and other Shan cultural organisations.
The parties and organisations which attended the forum agreed to work together to end the ethnic conflicts in the state.
