Adoptive parents win battle for trafficked children

A Malaysian Court yesterday granted conditional interim custody of 28 children rescued in February from a baby-trafficking syndicate to their adoptive parents.

Tearful petitioners arrived at the court around 10.30am yesterday.
The children, whose ages range from a few months to eight years, are currently under the care of the Welfare Department in Johor.
Counsel for four of the applicants, Jason Khor, said his clients were granted interim custody and protection orders and would now be able to take the children, aged between two months and three years, home.
The Penang-based child trafficking syndicate was busted on February 23, and 45 people were arrested.
