6 more Thais up for casino fraud

Six more Thai men were charged yesterday for allegedly cheating the Marina Bay Sands casino of nearly $1.2 million Singapore dollars (about Bt29 million).

Eight alleged accomplices, four men and four women, were charged on Saturday. Seven were Thai nationals while one was a Laotian man.
The 14, aged from 23 to 50 years old, are said to have colluded to win cash chips worth $1.2 million while playing baccarat at the casino on May 7 from 2.50am to 6am. They apparently devised a fraudulent scheme in which they knew the sequence of the cards in advance.
All 14 were remanded for further inquiries. The eight charged earlier will return to court on Friday while the case against the other six will be heard again next Monday.
The men charged yesterday were Sanguanmanee Pongsakorn, Apinyowichian Yongyut, Tuppong Pawee, Laungvorakit Koson, Kaewsuwan Sahaphon, and Kuntharote Ekkaphol. If convicted of cheating, each could be fined up to $150,000, jailed for up to seven years, or both.
