Record No of SEA Games athletes

More than 900 athletes across the country are in training for the 27th SEA Games, to be hosted by Myanmar from December 11 to 22, in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Mandalay and Ngwe Saung Beach.

The host athletes will compete against their counterparts from 10 other Southeast Asian countries.
“Over 900 athletes from Myanmar are going to participate in these Games. Among the participating nations, Myanmar will have the largest number, with Indonesia sending the second-largest delegation,” said an official from the Myanmar Olympic Committee.
For the last SEA Games in 2011, Myanmar sent 477 athletes to Indonesia and won 16 golds in a total of 80 medals to finish 7th in the standings. The number of disciplines in the 2013 edition of the biannual Games has dropped to 33, from 44 two years ago. Notable omissions from the lists of sports this year include tennis.
