Officials from both the President’s Office and the opposition National League for Democracy (NLD) confirmed the meeting but refused to say what it was about.
“It was true that they held a meeting. But there is no plan to release news about the discussion,” Win Myint, Lower House MP and NLD spokesman, told the Daily Eleven.
“It’s true. The meeting took place at the president’s farmhouse at 3pm. They might have talked about the current political situation. Political affairs are wide-ranging, so the talks may also have included ethnic and peace issues”, said an official from the President’s Office.
