Najib tells critics to offer solutions or shut up

Malaysian PM Najib Tun Razak has challenged his critics to provide ideas for a more progressive and resilient nation instead of continuously finding fault with his government. He said he did not mind being criticised, but did not like criticisms without s

“It is easy to criticise, it is easy to pass comments in a negative way, but ask yourself: ‘What can I contribute in terms of ideas and solutions?’
“I don’t mind criticism, but when you ask the critics ‘What do you have in mind?’ they look at you blankly.
“They have no ideas,” Najib said at a dinner with some 200 San Francisco-based Malaysians on Sunday.
The prime minister said he introduced the “1Malaysia” concept so all citizens had a sense of belonging and could contribute to the nation. He added that while the government was doing its level best to achieve developed and high-income status by 2020, it did not help when fellow Malaysians went overseas and started rubbishing their own country.
Worse, he said, they start spinning untrue stories.
“There are individuals who go abroad and tell lies to other Malaysians, including claims we manipulated the general election by bringing in 40,000 Bangladeshis.
“Until today they have not been able to produce one bit of evidence.
“People were angry with us but the truth is we did not cheat. It was a fair and honest election and we prevailed despite the onslaught,” he said.
“These are exciting times in Malaysia. I know not everything is rosy but, by and large, we are trying to do better and better. We are trying to improve,” he said.
