Foreign allies congratulate Hun Sen over reappointment

Leaders of those countries friendly with Cambodia have sent letters congratulating Hun Sen on his reappointment as prime minister.
The letters sent between September 23-25 came from leaders in China, Laos, Russia, Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore.
The leaders of each country said they would continue to cooperate with Cambodia, and said they believed Cambodia would continue to progress economically under Prime Minister Hun Sen’s rule.
Hun Sen, who has ruled the country for over 28 years, won another five-year term as prime minister after the National Assembly held a confidence vote Tuesday to reappoint him and establish the new government.
However, the opposition party said they did not recognise the newly-formed government believing that the inaugural session of the National Assembly violated the constitution.
