Cosmetic surgeon charged with throwing patient's body into river

Hanoi police have arrested the owner of a cosmetic surgery clinic, Nguyen Manh Tuong, for allegedly throwing a patient's body into the river after she died on the operating table.

A Hanoi police official said yesterday that initial investigations showed the victim had died after undergoing surgery at the centre, located in Hai Ba Trung District, on Saturday.
The woman’s husband told police his wife had gone missing after leaving home last Saturday. Tuong said the victim underwent breast surgery at the centre on Saturday morning. After six hours of surgery, she started to convulse.
Tuong said he directed his employees to give emergency aid to the victim, but she did not recover. Police say he then used a car to carry the victim’s body to Thanh Tri Bridge and, together with the centre’s guard, threw her body into the river.
Tuong allegedly then asked his employees to clear or clean all related evidence, such as surgical instruments, computers and documents. Police are working with local authorities in the search for the victim’s body.
