In response to a request by the government and opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi, the EU has decided to help Myanmar to reform its police force and train police in internationally accepted methods, Kobia said at a press conference.
He added that the training programmes would involve both theory and practice. The EU has been offering these programmes since September 2013, each lasting about two weeks and targeting 4,000 police officers, said Police Lt-Colonel Thura Boni from the Myanmar Police Force.
