A patrolling policeman was stabbed to death yesterday and two suspects were killed in a clash on the outskirts of the Malaysian capital.
Another policeman was injured in the attack in Klang Valley district, about 32km west of Kuala Lumpur, said district police chief Kamarul-zaman Mamat. Two of the five suspects were shot dead by the police officers during the fighting, while three others escaped.
The fighting erupted when the two officers accosted five people in a residential and commercial area, which is considered crime prone, he said. The suspects allegedly took out knives and machetes and attacked the officers.
