No trace of Briton

Searchers have yet to find a British man who went missing last week in a Malaysian forest reserve, police said yesterday.

Police and residents have searched for Gareth David Huntley, 34, since he failed to return on Tuesday from a solo trek to a waterfall in the jungle of Tioman Island, in the state of Pahang, 240 kilometres north-east of Kuala Lumpur.
“We are continuing are search operations,” Rompin police chief JohariJahaya said.
Huntley was a volunteer for a wildlife conservation group that protects turtles in the area. Tioman Island, part of the district of Rompin, is a densely forested and sparsely inhabited island popular among tourists for its divespots.
