Police say no Islamic State militants arrested over riot

Police have denied that Islamic State (IS) terrorists were arrested in Myanmar after orchestrating the recent riots in Mandalay.
The denial was in response to a rumour that the people arrested for allegedly sparking the riot, Ye Htut, Htun Htun, Phyu Phyu Minm, who is also known as Gatone Ma and Nu Nu Myat, are being manipulated by IS.
“Currently, there is a rumour spreading about some terrorists from Islamic State being arrested in Myanmar and IS is related to the Mandalay riot,” said a colonel from Myanmar Police Force headquarters. “But this is not correct. It is wrong. It is a rumour.”
Ye Htut, Htun Htun, Phyu Phyu Min and Nu Nu Myat are being sued under Article 211 of the Emergency Provisions Act. Ye Htut and Nu Nu Myat are also being sued for holding two nationality registration cards.
