Private dailies attract more advertisements

More commercial advertisements are inserted in the private dailies than those owned by the state, according to a source citing advertising agencies and businessmen.

“It’s easy to insert advertisements in private dailies, but to run advertisements in state-owned dailies we have to wait for a few days. The paper quality of private dailies is better than the state-owned. We also choose the private dailies because more people prefer to read it,” Hnin Ei of River Orchid Company said.
The advertising rate in the state-owned dailies range from 6,000 kyats to 1.7 million kyats (about Bt200 to Bt54,000). For foreign products, one square inch costs US$50 (Bt1,600). Private dailies vary in advertising rates, ranging from 9,000 kyats to 2.4 million kyats.
“Running advertisements in private dailies is fast, but it takes seven to 10 days in state-owned dailies,” an official of ADMA Advertising Enterprise said.
