Google Translate unveils Myanmar tool
Google has included the Myanmar language to its Google Translate service, adding it with nine other languages, bringing the total to 90 tongues.
The service is available online or via a mobile app and specialises in short, simple sentences, rather than anything too complex.
Smartphones in Myanmar are mostly from China and mobile users must opt for a handset equipped to support Google’s global products.
Google chairperson Eric Schmidt visited Myanmar ICT Development Corporation in March 2013 to stress Google’s commitment to Myanmar.
Schmidt said the visit was to promote Google, to urge Myanmar to get in touch with the latest software and to improve Google Translate and Google Earth.
