The academy started to conduct the hotel-related courses commencing on October 25 this year under the guidance of Aung San Suu Kyi, the chairperson of the opposition National League for Democracy (NLD) in Kawhmu Township, Yangon Region. The training academy conducts practical and theoretical lectures to about 100 trainees.
“It’s a six-month course. We have finished the two-month practical course. We are holding a four-month theoretical lecture now. After six months, the trainees will be assigned to hotels to gain practical experience. After that they will have to sit for the final examination at the academy. Then the recognised certificates will be given to the trainees. We have already got the job appointments for all the trainees. We will send them to work at the hotels in Yangon, Nay Pyi Taw and Inlay,” Thaw Zin Maung Maung said.
The training academy accepts 50 percent of youths from Kawhmu and the rest from different regions and states. The second course will start in August or September, 2015.
“Those wishing to attend the course must be 18 to 25 years old and pass the matriculation examination. For further information call 0942 0033963. We welcome simple and industrious trainees,” program director Zwe Nanda said.
