Win Tin Foundation provides Ks 150 million in assistance

The Hantharwady U Win Tin Foundation has provided more than Ks 150 million in cash assistance to political prisoners in the three years since its establishment on March 12, 2012.

 
A total of 605 political prisoners to date have received the financial assistance. The foundation provides financial assistance to political prisoners and journalists every two months.
The foundation held its 19th financial support-providing ceremony on March 12 at the Royal Rose Restaurant in Yangon. 
"We provided financial support to political prisoners as much as we could. We will continue our assistance efforts. We can do this humanitarian work thanks to our friends and comrades," said Moe Thu, a representative of the foundation.
Veteran journalist Hantharwady U Win Tin was a senior member of the National League for Democracy. He died on April 21, 2014, at Yangon General Hospital. The foundation is planning a ceremony to commemorate the one-year anniversary of his passing.
