Investigation panel to probe Yangon crackdown

The Human Rights Investigation Commission announced on March 12 that it would launch an investigation into the March 5 crackdown on the student protesters in Yangon, to determine whether it violates human rights.

Police and civilians wearing red armbands were seen violently attacking the student protesters in front of the City Hall.
The commission’s investigation will take into account photos and video as well as other evidence.
In its statement, the commission also acknowledged the crackdown in Letpadan and the detention of scores of people.
