Upper House MP Zaw Myint Pe tabled a proposal urging Parliament to cut about two per cent of all normal spending.
Normal spending submitted by 11 central level organisations and 30 ministries ranges from travel expenses and service, fuel and vehicle maintenance to reception expenses.
Despite Deputy Finance Minister Dr Lin Aung’s plea for no cut, Shwe Mann rejected the arguments and slammed the spending demands. He said that previously he chose not to interfere with the budgeting. He said the budgeting was not precisely calculated and Parliament needs to screen it.
