Civil service expansion attacked

The Union Parliament will soon discuss an opposition MP's petition.

MP Myat Nyana Soe from the National League for Democracy (NLD) tabled an urgent proposal to prevent the appointment of permanent secretaries and chief directors during the term of the current administration.
The MP also attacked that the salary system is breaching the rules and regulations regulating the country’s civil service.
The issue will be discussed during the next parliament session, said Speaker Thura Shwe Mann.
Myat Nyana Soe said: “I strongly denounce the proposed appointment. It might support centralisation and increase red tape in our bureaucracy.”
Members of the Cabinet have insisted that the appointment is in line with the law.
