Temperature soars in central zones

The temperature in central Myanmar has recently reached 44 to 45 degrees, according to the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology.

“Myingyan reached 44 degrees but dropped afterwards. It then bounced up 45 degrees for two days. Some regions had two to three days of 44 degrees but because it rained in Magway, the temperatures dropped a little,” said Kyaw Moe Oo, the department’s deputy director.
Last year in May at Chauk, it was 45 degrees. Since 1978 temperatures have increased. Between 1980 and 1990, it became almost an annual occurrence. It keeps getting hotter and hotter, he added.
The heat was causing hot, ascending clouds and heavy rain in upper and central regions.
