Storms keep Rakhine boats in port

Rakhine boats are stuck in port as strong winds and rain batter the coast.

“The Meteorology and Hydrology Department released an announcement saying that the monsoon is strong in the Bay of Bengal. The strong wind may cause squalls with rough seas along Myanmar’s coast. The Rakhine and Ayeyawady delta coast is now on alert. Travellers and fishermen must be cautious,” said an Express Vessel Line representative in Sittwe.
The entire Rakhine State is experiencing heavy rain although services are still running between Sittwe and Buthidaung.
