The campaign began in front of the 88 Generation Peace and Open Society office at around 1pm on September 7, with participants wearing black t-shirts with the slogan “Failed Law” on them.
The Failed Law campaign was led by students from the University Students’ Union, who also wore the t-shirts at the trials of detained student protesters and other political activists.
The campaign is also planned to continue at the trial of the ABSFU students in Thayawady Prison in the second week of September, as well as at the trial of the Yadanapon University students at the Amarapura court, said Phoe Thar, a student from University Students’ Union.
“It is because of Failed Law that not only the political prisoners, but also students, farmers and everyone else is suffering from injustice. Even the case of the two police officers being stabbed in Thanlyin is because of Failed Law. Everyone is suffering from this. The students are against unfair laws, and we are cooperating with them,” said Nilar Thein from the 88 Generation Peace and Open Society.
