NLD member beaten in cemetery

A young member of the National League for Democracy (NLD) was knocked unconscious by three men and left in a cemetery in Thitseikgon village, Myaungmya, Ayeyawady Region on Wednesday.
The victim, Nay Myo Hein, 23, reportedly accompanied other party members to a campaign meeting.
The NLD flag was found broken at the scene.
The three men were arrested later. The police named the attackers as Shwe Maung, Kwi Kwi and Zaw Myo.
Nay Myo Hein, after recovering consciousness, made his way home and was sent to Myaungmya Hospital.
“This is not an ordinary fight; the party flag was destroyed and the victim was an NLD member. We’ll file a complaint with the election commission and if necessary we’ll bring the case to court,” said Win Myint, the NLD Myaungmya agent.
The township police said they were investigating and had released the three accused on bail.
