Someday we can all laugh about it

Udom "Nose" Taepanich tells the jokes and the politicians waste our time and taxes - we thought everybody had agreed to this arrangement.

So how come Abhisit Vejjajiva is suddenly doing stand-up?
The opposition leader was cracking wise at Saturday’s Democrat Party rally, punctuating a harangue about the reconciliation bills with quips.
Democrat MP Rangsima Rodrassamee had nothing personal against the parliamentary speaker’s chair when she tried to remove it last week, Abhisit pointed out. Rangsima was among the top party members onstage chuckling at the joke, no doubt relieved at being able to laugh off the sorry episode.
The guffaw meter jumped higher when Abhisit talked about Yingluck Shinawatra.
“I can’t compete with her in some ways,” he said. “I’ve been in politics for 20 years and I still haven’t changed my clothes as often as she has.”
The Democrat leader stumbled over a metaphor about reconciliation but laughed it off. “Okay, I should read the script once in a while so I can become prime minister again.”
Seeing portions of Abhisit’s speech on Twitter, Pheu Thai Party fans rushed to Yingluck’s defence, and the consensus over at Pantip.com was that he was punching below the belt. What’s really funny, as in peculiar, is that the Democrat crowd didn’t see it that way.

Thanks, sort of
Sudarat Keyuraphan didn’t come right out and thank General Sonthi Boonyaratkarin for leading the 2006 coup that cost her a sweet job in politics, but she’s grateful that it led her back to the family.
Sudarat – now referring to herself as a “former politician” – made the remark on Modernine’s “WoodyTalk”. “I don’t support coups, but this one helped take me back to my family. I’m a mother again, a daughter and a wife.
“And I had a chance to do something I wouldn’t otherwise have done – renovating the birthplace of the Lord Buddha in Lumbini in Nepal.”
Cynics have moaned that the Lumbini project was a popularity ploy, but Sudarat swears she’s done with politics.
