The 'Sam Yaek Pak Wan' trio put on an amazing second show

Last Saturday’s “Sam Yaek Pak Wan Phase 2” concert at the Royal Paragon Hall provided the audience with plenty of laughs and a great deal of entertainment It was surprisingly good value for money too, as the show lasted an usually long four-and-a-half hours.
The concert kicked off shortly after 7pm with the trio from the last “Sam Yaek Pak Wan” on stage, crooning “Krai Mai Kiao Kor Thoy Pai” – a number with a definite “don’t mess with me” tone.
Thanakrit “Wan” Panichawit, Pongsak “Aof” Rattanaphong and Pongkul “Pop” Suebsueng then swung into modified lyrics to “Yok Meu Keun”, offering a new take that was both funny and relevant to the lives of the young generation with lines like “Put your hands up if working is just a hobby and your main job is facebooking”.
The trio then went on to say thanks to a long list of people, including the musical director, the choreographer and many more, commenting that it was better to express their appreciation now as no one would listen to them at the end of the show.
“People have a habit of standing and walking away when they hear thank-you messages,” Thanakrit said.
Fans arriving a little late for the concert looked a bit perplexed as they walked in. Why, they wondered, were the singers thanking the main sponsors and the audience?
“You’ve missed the whole concert. It’s about to end now,” Pongkul teased the late arrivals.
For the rest of the show, the three mixed their verbal jibes with singing, drawing laughter every now and then. Their teases, pranks, and gags were effective in smoothing over a few gaffes too.
After a few more songs, the stage flipped and was replaced by the set for “Gang Or Tor Kor”.
The TV programme’s three co-hosts Samapon “Kai” Piyaponsiri, Sriphan “Aon” Chunechomboon and Puttachart “Tui” Pongsuchart warmed up with a few songs before duelling with the “Sam Yak Pak Wan” gang.
Pongsak showed his great dancing skills here as he tried to help the overweight Pongkul in the dance competition against Samapon. His team was “disqualified” for his attempt.
Gang Or Tor Kor then ruled the stage, performing a parody of a popular TV soap opera, “Manya Rissaya”. This version was called "Muenya Rissaya" with the supposed hero humorously turning out to be gay.
As soon as the stage drama ended, Thanakrit, Pongsak and Pongkul took over the stage again, singing “Na Bud Now” before performing the gangnam-style dance.
They continued with another medley of numbers including the sweet “Look Om”.
Much to the delight of the audience, they walked down from stage to get up close and cosy with fans, stopping off occasionally to sing parts of songs that various individuals requested. Pongkul’s voice was particularly impressive here, even without music.
After this session ended, Jennifer Kim ruled the stage with her powerful voice, singing “Nalika Tai” and “Kidteung Thur Tooktee Tee Yoo Khon Diaew” before being joined by Pongsak, Pongkul, and Thanakrit for “Ta”.
The foursome then gathered for a talk show, drawing laugher from fans. When Jennifer left the stage, the three guys sang a few more songs before wrapping up the show with the feel-good song, “Charoen Charoen” (“Wishing You Happiness and Prosperity”.
