Wrangler makes blood donations easier

Wrangler jeans recently launched its annual charitable project "Wrangler Give a Life #4" by purchasing the campaign' T-shirts.

All proceeds will go to the National Blood Centre of the Thai Red Cross Society to buy donation equipment. Manassanan Panlertwongsakul, Rangsit Sirananont, Jarospan Sawasdiwat Na Ayutthaya and Nakwan Rayananonda were among the guests at a press conference at CentralWorld announcing the plans.
“Aimed at encouraging the Thai public to do good for society through an easy way of giving back, the campaign has proved its success over the past three years by helping improve patients’ quality of life,” said Pichai Chirathivat, chief executive at Central Marketing Group, which sells Wranglers in Thailand.
“Through this project we have donated over 15 million cubic centimetres of blood and more than 67 million cc’s of oxygen for hospitals in need, as well as collecting aluminium-can rings and making a Bt1 million donation to help produce prosthetic legs for disabled people.”
“To continue our duties and save everyone,” Ubonwan Charoungruengrit, vice president of the National Blood Centre explained, “adequate medical equipment and consistent blood stock are required. These matters are our prime concerns.
“Donated blood cannot be directly given to patients. Safety precautions must be undertaken to ensure safety for both the donors and recipients. Tools, particularly blood packs and syringes, are essential. These tools are single-use, so everything must be new and must be disinfected before use. In summary, if we have enough equipment, we will have more chance to store blood and help more people in need.”
“Each time you donate blood,” said singer Apiwat “Stamp” Eurthavornsuk, Wrangler Thailand’s celebrity spokesman, “there’s a list for donor to follow. First your body needs to be well rested. Make sure you’ve slept soundly for at least six hours. Second, you need to be in perfect health – never donate blood while on medication. With the rushed lifestyle of urban residents, people might not be healthy enough or might not have time to go to a donation centre by themselves. This campaign is an easy way to support the Red Cross Society.”
The project continues through October. The T-shirt costs Bt790 at all Wrangler stores and counters.
