EVERY THAI MAN who follows the latest fashion trends can now be a Jaspal Man. That’s the new line at Jaspal, which has been clothing Southeast Asians in great ready-to-wear togs for decades.
Assistant managing director Viseth Singhsachathet hosted a launch for the Jaspal Man autumn-winter series recently at the Thailand Creative Design Centre.
“For the Jaspal Man, age isn’t the main factor,” he said. “It’s about the personality and a confidence that outshines all else. This is the effortlessly stylish type of gentleman. It’s in the fine details of the clothing that creates a complete, timeless look that’s proper for all types of occasions.”
The line – created according the advice of creative consultant Michael Kristensen – responds to men’s constantly changing needs in this digital era. It’s a means of expressing one’s personality. These are the trends that Jaspal has been tracking at it strives to provide clear and distinctive “styles”, combining classic and modern elements as well as the freshest ideas of each season.
Jaspal Man retains the brand’s luxurious but elegant design, beginning with tailoring techniques that ensure the clothes fit everyone and a selection of high-quality materials from Europe, with the emphasis on denim and cotton, plus leather shoes and bags imported from Italy.
“This major refocusing of the brand covers a more specific target group,” Viseth explained. “Meanwhile Jaspal Man will refocus on the brand’s other elements to make sure everything is in harmony. There’s a new logo, label, packaging and even a separate zone in the stores to offer a better shopping experience.”
Guests at the launch saw designs that reflected the brand’s strengths, such as camouflage-print jackets with a modern fit, colourful suits, printed jerseys, Bolson outerwear, very contemporary polo shirts and casual T-shirts. There are four key looks.
“Urban Safari” is for the adventurous guys who love “exploring” the city. Included is a casual yet smart cotton suit in beige – a seasonal must-have. Soft-tech nylons, jersey and denim are used in blazers and jackets, with camouflage and sailor stripes as the main prints, matched to five-pocket slim-fit pants. There’s also a new range of bags, bandana scarves and sunglasses.
“Clean and Cool” offers a track suit that could be the ultimate “statement” in the coming cool season. The outfits are all suitable for a relaxing day even in the bustling city – chambray suits, jersey trousers and sleeveless shirts and other tops inspired by the martial arts. The leather shoes from Italy have a Gatsby flair with their two tones.
“Blue Electric” is sophisticated, clean and sharp, focusing on sleek, white shirts worn with shorts and blazers.
The refined indoor knitwear is trimmed with leather details, |ideal for wearing with nylon raincoat trenches and Italian leather shoes.
“Night Rider” celebrates rock ’n’ roll feel, which means dressing down for evening events. It’s a clash of styles, with blazers and tuxedo jackets paired with jersey tees. The statement pieces include sleeveless blazers, refined turtleneck knitwear, waistcoats, striped tux trousers and white shoes.
Jaspal Man knows exactly what he wants. He pays attention to what he wears, is attentive to details and puts a high emphasis on quality.
Following trends isn’t the most important aspect – having a distinctive personal style is what he demands.
“Being a gentleman with a mindful perspective in life, clothing included, the Jaspal Man doesn’t believe an especially detailed outfit makes him strange, but rather different,” Viseth said. “It’s all about the fine details that create the complete look, including tailoring, shape, materials, style and matching add-ons.
“Jaspal Man is effortless and cool.”
