Digital economy moves will bring quick benefits

Re: "Infrastructure takes centre stage as panel convenes on digital economy", Business, February 27.

The words of this report were so sweet to the eyes that I was surprised that it was placed under the Business section and referred restrictively to the benefits to SME’s business.
With due respect, the effective digital infrastructure would also help to improve the working of civil servants and other public sectors. Its database would link all matters into one centre where fraud and lies would be highlighted like sore thumbs. The best of all is transparency on one’s behaviour, disgusted or otherwise, could be digitally recorded and spread like wildfire. No coup would ever be necessary.
Digital infrastructure, not sufficiently heralded, is even more important than the well-heralded nationwide railway system, because it would give immediate benefits to Thailand. Whatever criticisms one may have against Deputy Prime Minister MR Pridiyathorn Devakula, one can now forgive him and laud him for having the audacity to bring us to the full of the digital age. History will remember him!
