The flawed science behind mainstream diet advice

Tuesday’s article headlined “Eating for a healthy heart” contained three (potentially) fatal errors in the first paragraph:

“A diet low in saturated fat is as effective as statins according to the American Heart Association.”
A diet low in saturated fat robs one of heart-healthy egg yolks, high in anti-oxidants such as selenium and l-cysteine amino acid and vitamins that prevent the arterial inflammation that leads to clogging. Such a diet also cuts out cream and butter which synthesise much-needed vitamins B6, B12 and folates that lower artery-clogging homocysteine. Also missing is grass-fed animal fat with its protective Omega 3, CLA and LCFAs.
The cholesterol baloney started with the faulty 1953 Framingham Heart Study that found residents of the titular town had slightly elevated total cholesterol and heart disease incidence. The study’s authors mistakenly concluded that dietary cholesterol had raised the blood cholesterol, and this in turn caused the arteries to clog up. Sadly, the flawed Framingham Study is still the gold standard worldwide.
Today we know that blood cholesterol is raised by lack of exercise, smoking and insufficient vitamins B6 and B3. We also know that foods high in saturated fat are artery protective. We know that clogging has three major causes – high blood homocysteine, high artery inflammation and high trigycerides (blood fats elevated by too many carbs, especially sugar and alcohol).
Statins are totally ineffective. They cannot even slow artery calcification as they lack the necessary anti-oxidants needed to stop artery inflammation, as found in two egg yolks daily. (I consume three raw yolks and any amount of cooked yolks daily. I have clean arteries at 79, as confirmed with a high-speed scan). What statins do is to artificially lower the LDL, (the “bad cholesterol”). LDL is merely the marker for the severity of any ongoing arterial inflammation.  Normalising the LDL  thus has no health benefit. The side effects of statins are weakness, painful bones and muscles, and sometimes total kidney failure leading to death. These effects are from the chemical interference of one’s normal liver or gut function, depending on the statin brand. Interestingly, statins block the body’s synthesis of Enzyme Q10, whose function is to keep the heartbeat strong! Statins are no more than an annual US$25-billion fraud.
The American Heart Association, AHA? It is just another self-appointed, corrupt organisation fully funded by Big Food and Big Biotech. The AHA is funded by the $1-million fee that any food producer must pay to get the “AHA Heart Healthy” approval stamp on its low-saturated-fat product. Whether that product is loaded with sugar, margarine or other rapidly rancifying vegetable fats and harmful contents doesn’t matter to the AHA.
As long as a heart condition in the United States is worth $150,000 and more to Big Medicine, we’ll be misinformed.
