From triumph to trash in the blink of an eye

From triumph to trash in the blink of an eye

What a wonderful event was staged in Lumpini Park in January.  The Thailand Tourism Festival was a great success, showcasing the heart of the nation.

But what a sad ending, now the wonderful stall-holders and displays have gone, leaving trash everywhere, while day by day more is being left by uncaring park visitors. Surely such highly efficient organisers could have arranged litter pickers? And why can’t park users carry their trash a few metres to a bin?
We foreigners love much about Thailand, but the discarded plastic and trash left simply everywhere around the city and country we find so unpleasant. It is sadly polluting your parks, your streets, your drains, klongs, rivers and sea.
Come on, Thailand – please pick it up.
Perhaps The Nation could sponsor a “Clean 2018” campaign to educate and encourage the Thai people?
