Incredible hypocrisy in condemning China over treatment of Muslims
Re: “China’s treatment of Muslim minority is neither peaceful nor orderly”, Have Your Say, February 13.
Letter-writer Paul claims that the Chinese policy of arresting and detaining Muslim protesters is “neither peaceful nor orderly” and does not respect their human rights.
But I am sure that the Chinese government treats the Muslim Uighurs much better than Myanmar’s Nobel Peace Prize winner treats the Muslim Rohingya. Another Nobel Peace Prize winner, then-President Barack Obama, supervised the assassination of Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan (without permission from that country’s government). Despite this the US has failed to suppress Muslim terrorists. And we hardly need mention how many lives and taxpayer dollars have been lost in Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya, all of which fell into chaos after the US won wars against Muslim “terrorists”.
Can Paul say that the famous waterboarding and other torture methods employed in Guantanamo show any more “respect for human rights” than methods employed in Xinjiang?
I also attach photo of the Chinese government-built “mini-Disneyland” primary school (see above) snapped on my last visit. The school attracts Uighur children to learn Chinese (Mandarin) that enables them to communicate with one billion of their fellow Chinese citizens.
