South warned of flash floods, water runoffs

Thundershowers and some heavy rain will continue in the South and the East, the Thailand Meteorological Department forecast on Sunday.

The department urged people in risky areas of the South to beware of the severe weather conditions that may cause flash floods and water runoffs.
Meanwhile a weak monsoon trough across the North and the upper Northeast regions would reduce rainfall in the areas. The southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea and the South while the southeasterly wind prevails across the Gulf of Thailand, the South and the East. The category 5 (typhoon) “Haishen” covers the western North Pacific. It is expected to move to the south of Japan and the Korean peninsula on Sunday-Monday. The storm would have no effect on Thailand, the department said.
The forecast for different parts of the country:

Seven-day forecast:
From September 5-11, the monsoon trough will shift up to lie across the North, the upper Northeast and upper Vietnam while the southwest monsoon prevailing over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf will be stronger. Thundershowers are likely over Thailand throughout the period with isolated heavy rain.
