Mun River bursts bank, floods Nakhon Ratchasima district

The Mun River has burst its bank in several parts of Nakhon Ratchasima’s Phimai district, leaving some areas under 30 centimetres of water on Tuesday.

The flooding has also prompted the demand for more water pumps, with Samrit Water Transmission and Maintenance Project saying it will put another 20 in place to drain the water.

Meanwhile, the water level in Phimai Dam has reached 5 million cubic metres, exceeding its limit of 3.6 million cubic metres by more than 140 per cent.

The authorities said water will have to be released from the dam or it will soon overflow and affect the district’s business area.
