1,400 people vaccinated in Bangkok’s Bang Khun Thian district
On Saturday, 1,400 people at risk of contracting Covid-19 in Bangkok’s Bang Khun Thian district were given the vaccine, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) said.
BMA’s mobile unit has set up a vaccination centre at Kamphaeng Temple in Bang Khun Thian to provide Covid-19 jabs to workers of local markets and residents in nearby areas, as Bang Khun Thian is adjacent to Samut Sakhon, a hot spot of the latest wave in Thailand.
“Tomorrow the unit will move to Chom Thong district, which connects to Bang Khun Thian, to vaccinate people at risk there,” said Chawin Sirinak, BMA’s deputy permanent secretary.
“We expect about 1,200 people to receive the jab on Sunday, whereas BMA has prepared a total of 3,000 doses of both Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccines.”
The Sinovac vaccine is for those aged 18 to 60 years, while those over 60 will receive the AstraZeneca vaccine.
After vaccination, recipients had to rest for 30 minutes to check for side-effects from the vaccine. So far, no patients have reported side-effects.
Chawin added that those who had been vaccinated this weekend would receive their second jab of Sinovac vaccine on April 24-25, while those who are injected with the AstraZeneca vaccine would receive their second jab on June 12-13.
