Bangkok and six central provinces face possible flooding from high tides between October 27 and November 5, 2026, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has warned.
DDPM director-general Nirat Pongsitthaworn said the alert followed a notice from the Royal Thai Navy’s Hydrographic Department concerning Chao Phraya River levels around Phra Chulachomklao Fort and nearby areas. The notice, No. 14/2569, was issued on October 26, 2026.
The DDPM said high tides were expected between 6am and 3pm during the warning period, potentially raising river and canal levels and causing water to overflow their banks.
The DDPM identified low-lying areas beside rivers and canals, communities outside flood embankments, and locations without permanent flood defences or with gaps in those defences as areas requiring close monitoring.
The DDPM’s warning covers Bangkok and the following areas in six central provinces:
The DDPM asked provincial authorities to prepare disaster-response equipment, machinery and operational teams and position them in vulnerable areas so they could respond immediately and assist residents.
The DDPM also asked provinces to publicise the high-tide dates and times and alert relevant agencies and businesses operating on rivers and canals. These include riverbank protection construction projects and floating restaurants.
Residents living beside rivers and in vulnerable low-lying areas have been urged by the DDPM to remain alert and monitor conditions closely throughout the warning period.
