Thai Airways announces stricter power bank rules for flights

Thai Airways says passengers may carry only two power banks each and must not use or charge them on board under ICAO safety rules effective March 27, 2026.

  • Thai Airways has limited passengers to carrying a maximum of two power banks per person.
  • The use or charging of power banks is strictly prohibited while on board the aircraft.
  • The new rules, based on ICAO safety requirements, have been in effect since March 27, 2026.

Thai Airways issued a safety notice via its Facebook page, “Thai Airways”, on April 3, 2026, regarding its policy on carrying power banks on board.

Under the latest safety requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO):

  • Passengers may carry no more than two power banks per person.
  • The use or charging of power banks on board is strictly prohibited.
  • The rules have been in effect since March 27, 2026.

For safety reasons, the airline urged passengers to comply strictly with the requirements.
