One person who's keen to see the remake of "Jan Dara" by ML Bhandevanop "Mom Noi" Devakula is none other than Nonzee Nimibutr, who directed his version in 2001.

“I am positive that Phi Noi’s interpretation will be different from mine,” says Nonzee.
He had Jan played by two actors, Suwinit panjamawat at age 15 and by Ekkarat Sarsukh from age 20. They had classical Thai looks in keeping with the novel by Utsana Phleungtham.
“But in the new version, Phi Noi has cast Mario Maurer to play Jan for the entire movie,” Nonzee explains. Mario’s German-Chinese luk khrueng appearance will also “make it totally different”, he adds.
Mom Noi is on a roll with remakes. Last year’s “The Outrage”, adapted from Akira Kurosawa’s “rashomon” and 2010’s “Chua Fah Din Salai”, based on a Thai novel that was made into a classic 1950s movie, were both highly acclaimed and performed well at the box office.
Both were lavish productions with highly dramatic performances and breathtaking art direction, but a key ingredient in Mom Noi’s movies has been sex, lots of sex. And that’s what “Jan Dara” is all about.
No one knows if the iconic ice-cube seduction from Nonzee’s version with Hong Kong siren Christy Chung will make a reappearance, but even if it doesn’t, Mom Noi’s “Jan Dara” is sure to be a spectacle.
Meanwhile, Nonzee has a new movie coming out next week, a “psycho-thriller”, “Distortion” (“Kon-Loke-Jit”).

Hair-raising
Singer-actress Suthida “Nook” Kasemsan na Ayutthaya is getting a lot of stares these days for her new hair style.
For one thing, it’s pink. And it’s short, “like a coconut shell”, says Nook who changes her coif often to promote her hair salon.
“When people see me, the hairdo catches their eye and they ask me where I get my hair done,” Nook tells Thai Rath. She then sends them along to Aida on Sukhumvit Soi 47.
“My boys don’t like it much,” she says of her pink bob. “They ask ‘why don’t you have black hair?’ I guess they feel shy.”
But they’d better get used to it, Nook says. “I will keep it awhile until people remember it.”
A single mum, Nook just nuked a relationship of three years with a boyfriend and isn’t looking to start something new. But one thing’s for sure, if she does find a man, he’d better get a haircut at her shop.
