Market leader Bangkok Broadcasting and Television (BBTV) – the operator of Channel 7 – announced yesterday that it would put more effort into non-prime-time slots during weekdays by adding more news and entertainment programmes.
“After conducting [research into] audiences’ perception of non-prime-time slots, we have learned that morning news programmes and entertainment shows get very good feedback from viewers. Therefore, we need to make it better by adding an even greater variety of programmes,” said BBTV managing director Palakorn Somsuwan. The non-prime slot on weekdays at Channel 7 runs from 6am to 6pm.
The “Chao Nee Tee Mo Chit” morning news will be extended from a one-hour programme to 90 minutes (6am-7.30am), to be followed by “News Insight” (7.30am-9.30am) and entertainment shows and TV series (9.30am-11.30am).
After that, Channel 7 will provide a newly re-imaged midday news show, “Newsroom at Noon”, from 11.30am to 1.15pm from Monday to Thursday, while “The Cover” talent show will be aired during the time slot every Friday.
For the afternoon non-prime slots, the station will offer entertainment programmes, children’s programmes and social-responsibility shows.
Its rival Channel 3, operated by Bangkok Entertainment Company (BEC), is also adding new programmes after long-term partners Workpoint Entertainment and Exact Scenario pulled their produced content from the channel.
