14 students released
The 14 anti-coup students were released from Bangkok Remand prison at 5.40 am this morning as they vow to continue their fight for democracy.
The move came after the Military Court turned down police request to detain them for another 12 days of pre-trial detention.
The group, representing the New Democracy Movement (NDM) were not released Tuesday because earlier court’s remand order took effect until midnight. They were initially reported to be released at 8am Wednesday but eventually were released at dawn.
Chonticha Changreo, aka Look-ked, the only female activist detained, had been taken from correctional hospital to her boyfriend’s house while her mother was waiting in front of the prison. She was later taken back to join the 13 others in front of the Bangkok Remand Prison where the 14 vowed to continue their fight for democracy, sang revolutionary songs, reunited with families and friends before leaving the front of the prison at 7am.
