THE ANTI-CORRUPTION panel is reportedly split over whether it should ask Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan to give an explanation in person over his ownership of luxury watches, a source at the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) said yesterday.

The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) cannot wrap up their investigation as scheduled this month over watches worn by Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, because the second-ranked leader has asked for more time to submit a clarification, said an official of the anti-graft body on Friday.

National Anti-Corruption Commission President Pol General Watcharapol Prasarnrajkit said on Friday that the body’s secretary-general has not yet updated the corruption-fighting body about whether Deputy PM Prawit Wongsuwan has submitted his third try at an explanation about his possession of luxury watches.
