President Payung Sakdasawit said about Bt750 million of the budget would be invested in the new factory, Auto Tools (Eastern), to be located on 40 rai (6.4 hectares) in Ban Bung district, Chon Buri. The factory is to start operations in 2014 and will increase manufacturing capacity for dies and auto parts from 500 units per hour to between 1,000 and 1,500 units, with 800-tonne and 2,000-tonne high-speed machines.
The new factory will allow the company to produce high-volume products and to serve the market expansion of local carmakers, including Toyota, Mitsubishi and Nissan.
“The expansion of our facility to the Eastern region of Thailand is in line with our policy to avoid risk from natural disasters such as floods,” Payung said. “We also want to serve major auto-makers who have shifted their assembly plants to the eastern part of the country.”
Payung said about Bt250 million of the budget would be spent on capacity expansion at its existing factory, Auto Tools (Pathum Thani), on 7 rai in Lat Lum Kaeo district. The expansion will be in the production lines of dies and assembly and test jigs.
The company also will increase the production capacity for brake boosters at its Chon Buri plant to about 3 million units per annum to supply Bosch of Germany. It will also supply brake boosters to local carmakers, including Mitsubishi, Isuzu, Ford and General Motors.
Thai Auto Tools expects Bt1.5 billion in sales this year, up from about Bt741 million posted last year.
The company earned Bt1.2 billion in sales revenue in the first 10 months of this year. It expects sales to reach Bt1.9 billion next year and up to Bt3 billion by 2015.
