The X-Trail was launched just last week in Thailand, and Nissan Motor Thailand hopes to sell 8,000 of this SUV annually.
Nissan also bagged top awards in two other categories at Icoty – Best Small SUV for the Juke and Best Sedan and Best Acoustics for the Teana.
The all-new X-Trail, launched in September at the 22nd Indonesian International Motor Show (IIMS), won the Icoty Award following a week-long, highly competitive judging process led by independent experts, including senior race car drivers Jimmy Lukita, Andre DG, Hendry Tho and Kemal Bachrie. Points were awarded to cars in different categories for their performance, fuel efficiency, technology and comfort, among other criteria.
“We awarded the Icoty title to the all-new Nissan X-Trail due to several factors – its modern and stylish design, the 3-row-seat concept that provides more capacity, as well as the innovative engineering and technologies such as [active] ‘trace control’ and engine-brake control,” said Heradiranto, chairman of Icoty 2014 judges.
“Nissan’s global expertise is evident throughout X-Trail, from its bold yet stylish exterior design to a premium and spacious interior with comfort and flexibility to a series of innovative technologies,” he added.
In addition to the Icoty Award, the X-Trail has received the “Most Favourite Car” Award at the IIMS in September this year.
As of mid-November, more than 4,400 X-Trails have been booked, far surpassing its initial sales target of 1,000 units per month.
