Visitors to Thailand in October will be treated to one of the most impressive sights the country has to offer when a procession of royal barges is staged on the Chao Phraya river in Bangkok. In honour of His Majesty the King’s 84th birthday in December, 52 barges will travel along the river from Vasukri Pier on October 22. The procession takes about two hours. From Friday, a series of eight rehearsals is being staged in preparation for the full event. General rehearsals with costumes will be held on October 13 and 18. – DPA
