Festive in Singapore

The city state gets all geared up for the holiday season with colourful lights, entertainment and shopping – lots of shopping

Singapore is celebrating Christmas and New Year season with a series of entertainment and shopping events that run from now until January 2 and is inviting travellers to enjoy these festive moments, which are filled with special themed events, dazzling lights and exclusive privileges.
Be amazed by how Singapore gets transformed into a shimmering kaleidoscope of lights and sounds, where the luxurious shopping belts of Orchard Road and Marina Bay are decked out in the most creative and exuberant street decor.
Christmas in the Tropics is an umbrella event, which offers visitors and residents alike the chance to usher in the new year in a variety of different locations, all preceded by magical parades of art, fireworks, Christmas light-ups, opportunities to win fabulous prizes and superb discounts at world-renowned stores.
Resorts World Sentosa, for example, presents a unique way to capture the spirit of Christmas with its inspired decor and programme of events. The resort is split into five different zones, with each zone highlighting a different aspect of the fairy tale concept.
Christmas themed events and fairy tale mascots add to the festivities and entertainment, and fairy tale themed backdrops serve as perfect photo opportunities. Entertainment consists of daily carollers, bands, drummers and live performance acts.
Highlights include the one-of-a-kind art on display in the elephant parade, the Standard Chartered Marathon, nightly passes of beautifully decorated floats, and superb offers for tourists by Global Blue, Premier Tax, and Visa.
Additionally, long-reigning superclub Zouk will be presenting a 14-hour dance extravaganza, “One World, One Music, One Tribe, One Dance” at ZoukOut 2011, featuring world-class acts that span house, techno, trance, hip-hop and electro.
For Countdown 2012, the city will throw parties at Marina Bay and Sentosa beach.
Marina Bay Singapore Countdown will take place in the country’s symbolic centre with a firework display against city skyline, while Sentosa will draw the young of all ages for a wild countdown party.
