Pedal power at dusk
Sign up for one of SpiceRoads’ cycle tours and admire the Bangkok sunset from a bicycle seat. The Bangkok-based specialist bicycle tour operator introduces its Bangkok Sunset Ride that takes in the highlights of Old Rattanakosin at dusk. The 15-km route let you explore old Bangkok’s very first communities and neighbourhoods including the Golden Temple, Giant Swing of Wat Suthat and Temple of Dawn, ironically the best spot to watch the sun set. The trip lasts about 3 to 4 hours depending on the side of the group. Visit www.SpiceRoads.com.
A pavilion not to miss
The Bangkok Airways pavilion at Royal Flora Ratchaphruek has been chosen by the organiser as one of the 20 “Must See” pavilions. The overall concept of Bangkok Airways pavilion is led by “Greenitude” philosophy, combining nature and Thai culture in every design to present Bangkok Airways’ “Environmental Friendly” motto in its daily operation. Royal Flora Ratchaphruek continues to Chiang Mai until March 14.
Wings of help for flood-affected Thais
Over 12 tons of medicine, blankets and clothing for Thailand’s flood victims have just arrived in Bangkok from France’s Toulouse on Thai Airways International delivery of newest A330-300. The humanitarian goods, which are supported by Airbus Corporate Foundation and ‘Luftfahrt ohne Grenzen’ (Wings of Help), will go to the more than 12.8 millions Thais still in need of support. The delivery aircraft is the first to be delivered out of an order for seven A330-300 placed last year and joins an existing fleet of 20 of A330s already operated by the airline.
Feasting for a cause
Two Aleenta beachfront resorts recently raised Bt320,000 through charity dinners. In Thailand’s South, more than 100 guests turned out for the “Help Save Marine Life” bash at Aleenta Phuket-Phang Nga. And the following week the sister resort Aleenta Hua Hin-Pranburi hosted a bespoke banquet for a select gathering of guests. The money will help people displaced by the floods as well as marine life study.
