Bridging Bangkok and Nay Pyi Taw

It will soon be possible to travel directly from Bangkok and Nay Pyi Taw with AirAsia introducing a daily flight between the two capitals from October 28.

The new scheduled flight was confirmed by Tony Fernandes, Group CEO of AirAsia, during the World Economic Forum on East Asia 2013 in Myanmar. The new service, which the airline claims will make Asean more accessible, is in answer to the high demand for Myanmar travel. The flight schedule will be released at a later date. Training for the triathlon
The Fifth International Bangkok Triathlon returns to Thailand's capital on July 7 for what promises to be the best event ever. After swimming in the Chao Phraya River, the River of Kings, athletes will transit under the magnificent Rama VIII Bridge to bike along the elevated expressway. The expressway will be traffic free, affording athletes stunning views of the city. The final run will take athletes over the Rama VIII Bridge to the finish area on the banks of the river. In full bloom
Chaiyaphum in Thailand's northeast offers a vista of natural attractions from now to July.  One of the highlights is the pinkish-purple Siam tulip, locally known as dok krachiao, which bursts into bloom during the early part of the rainy season from June to August. Tucked away in Pa Hin Ngam National Park, Thep Sathit district, the field of wild flowers is ideal for trail walking and weekend camping. The park also features 10 square kilometres of impressive natural sandstone sculptures in many curious shapes. Packing a travel punch
A new guidebook “Travel Pack Thailand” has hit the stands. Written by Bangkok-based scribe Jim Algie, the guidebook offers plenty of great ideas for plotting your trip across the kingdom. Whether it’s navigating the country’s most fantastical temples, going on a canal trip of Bangkok without getting soaked in  more ways than one, enjoying the sun-splashed serenity of hidden beaches and coves, or partying like a rock star, “Travel Pack Thailand” offers you all these experiences and more. To complete the guidebook, Algie travelled around Thailand kayaking, rock-climbing and hunting red ants for their eggs.
