Romancing the stones
Family-run tour operator Isan Explorer introduces a trek through the unusual and beautiful rocky landscape of Nam Phong National Park in Northeast Thailand. The park is best known for its views across Ubonrat Lake, but the variety of interesting rock formations – including the iconic Hin Chang Si (“Elephant Rubbing Stone”) – spread across the forest are the real highlight. Guests get to spend the day walking around, climbing up, and even passing through many of them. For a full itinerary, visit www.IsanExplorer.com.

New service for foreigners
The Thai Government has launched a new 1111 hotline to receive complaints from foreigners in Thailand. This is in addition to the existing 1155 24-hour Tourist Police Call Centre, which remains the number to call in emergencies, and is ready to offer assistance to both tourists and foreign residents in Thailand. There will be interpreters on standby to receive all emergency calls. If the pressing cases are beyond the centre’s jurisdiction, they will be referred to the respective government agencies. For non-emergency matters, foreigners are advised to call 1111. The centre, also available around the clock, is staffed by representatives from all 20 ministries to ensure prompt response for all complaints received from foreigners in Thailand.
