Thailand pushes Israel for assistance with hostages and workers

Thai ambassador to Israel Pannabha Chandraramya has sought political assistance from the Israeli authorities in resolving the situation regarding the Thai hostages being held by Hamas as well as in ensuring the safety of Thai workers.

In his discussions on Sunday with Eliyahu Revivo, a member of the Israeli Knesset and chairman of the Committee on Foreign Workers, Pannabha urged Israeli authorities to expedite the tracking of Thai hostages, secure the safety of Thai workers in Israel, and sought Revivo's assistance in advocating for the establishment of a Deposit Fund for foreign workers in the agricultural sector, the embassy reported on its Facebook page.

Additionally, the ambassador called for further negotiations between the Thai and Israeli governments to facilitate the deployment of Thai workers in the construction sector in Israel.

In response, Revivo confirmed Israel’s commitment to actively track and assist Thai nationals, treating them similarly to Israeli citizens. He expressed readiness to advocate for the Deposit Fund's establishment to protect the rights and benefits of Thai workers.
